Please join us for the 1st Annual Saint Joseph’s Alumni Event celebrating 50 Years of SJU Rugby. This Rugby Homecoming Event will consist of a Pig Roast Barbeque that will be held during the A-side match against Drexel University. The Event will take place in the parking lot directly above Finnessey Field, which happens to have a great view of the game. Other food & beverages will be available during the event as well as T-shirts commemorating SJU Rugby “Taking Care of Business for 50Years”. Please come early to see the B & C-side matches. These games will be taking place earlier in the day (approximately starting at 1pm). We will be updating the schedule when this becomes available.
If you haven’t been following the Hawks, we have been an EPRU power-house for the last 5 years. The Hawks now play their home games on state-of-the-art turf in the center of campus, better known as Finnissey Field. The 2008 team was EPRU DII Champions and made it to the USA Sweet 16. The ’09 team is coming off a MARFU play-off appearance. The 2010 Hawks have most of their starters back and are looking to work their way back to Nationals.
Whether you want to bring your wife and children for the day or you want to make a weekend out of it to reminisce with your old buddies, we have made accommodations for you. We have blocked-off rooms at the Crown Plaza 1-800-972-2796 on City Line. Tell them you’re with the SJU Alumni Event. After our Official Event on campus, quite a few Alumni have made arrangements to meet in Manyunk. If we book enough rooms, hotel shuttles may be available to run to & from Manyunk.
If you haven’t been on campus for a while, we have tours set up in the morning to show you around (the New Arena, the former Episcopal Campus, renovated Campion Student Center , the planned library, etc).

Saint Joseph’s University has never extended more support to the Rugby Program than they do today. Even with this support, our student-athletes pay dues and rely on their fundraising to help finance the remaining cost to run a team of over 50 active players. Please see our Fundraising goals below.
As part of our fundraising for this Barbeque , we’re asking for a $50 tax-deductible donation (more if you can afford it) for an all-access wristband for the Pig Roast Barbeque during the event & a 50th Anniversary t-shirt. If you can’t afford $50, Barbeque-only wrist bands will be available for a $25 donation. T-shirts will also be sold separately.
